GENERAL INFORMATION

This packet takes students to an intermediate level of composition with an extensive concentration on form.  It was developed to be used for Composition Camp, but could be adapted for classroom or individual use.

ENVELOPES (9x12) are given to each student at the beginning of camp for storage of their papers. The student places his/her name, Composition Camp, and the year on the front of the envelope. If there is time, the student may decorate the front of the envelope.

STICKER PAGE - students are awarded a sticker for each four measures composed, winning a game, etc.  Using the outside of the envelope may substitute for printing the Sticker Page.

VIDEO - 

• Marsalis: Wynton Marsalis has four videos and a book including  an audio CD that teaches the fundamentals of music and composition. Included in these materials is an excellent study on form and how to recognize different types.  These materials can be found in various music catalogs such as Music in Motion.
